Picking the right resort at Walt Disney World

After a great night’s rest, we drove another 6 hours and finally made it to Orlando, FL. As you can see by the pictures, Daniel slept most of the way. Our first stop is always Giordano’s deep dish pizza. It’s been a tradition for the last 5 trips to WDW. The pizza is so filling you can only have 1 slice, which is great. That way we have left overs for later. BTW, make sure to order an appetizer as well. The pizza takes 45 min but it’s worth the wait!!

Another tradition we have is to unpack first (moms rule) then walk around our resort. This was our first time staying @ Disney’s Port Orleans-Riverside and we couldn’t wait to explore. The resort is divided up into 2 sections. Our sections is themed “old south” or “Gone with the wind”. The other section is themed “french quarters”, or New Orleans. It’s hard to believe this resort was at 100% capacity since you barely saw anyone walking around. This resort is considered a “moderate resort”. Disney has 4 different categories to rate their resorts: value, moderate, deluxe and villa. The main difference between the “value” resort and the moderate resort where we’re staying at is our rooms are 314 square feet, can accommodate 4 people, have 2 sinks in the bathroom, arcade, a pool slide and nightly entertainment for the kiddos. The room size for a value resort is 260 sq feet and believe me , you will feel the difference. Since we knew we were going to spend a lot of time at our resort, we opted to spend more on our room. That’s one tip I alway give my clients. If you’re planning on spending ALL your free time @ Disney’s 4 theme park, than go with a value or less expensive resort. But, if you plan on spending some days at your resort, it’s worth to spend a couple of hundred dollars more for a nicer accommodation.

Once we finished walking around, we changed into our swim suit and spend the next couple of hours enjoying the slide and the playground that was nearby.

What’s your favorite Disney resort?
