Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful Holidays with your family and friends. One of my New Year’s resolutions was to try as many food trucks as possible. Since I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Nammi food truck, they were the first on my list. Today, I was fortunate enough to catch them in Addison off Montfort and Beltline. For those who aren’t familiar, Nammi food truck specializes in Banh Mi, which is a Vietnamese sandwich. This deli style sandwich comes with your choice of meat: BBQ pork, grilled pork, lemongrass beef, lemongrass chicken or veggie tofu. Even though their best seller is grilled pork, I decided to try their lemongrass beef sandwich. The first thing that impressed me about this food truck was their quick service. The last food truck I tried took 45 minutes for my meal. So, when my Banh Mi sandwich was ready in less than ten minutes, I was elated.
My sandwich came in a 12 inch baguette with lemongrass beef, garlic mayonnaise, cucumbers, pickled daikons, carrots, cilantro, and jalapenos. Since I wasn’t sure how hot the jalapeno were, I decided to order them on the side. Another thing that impressed me about Nammi food truck was the amount of food you get for your money. Their sandwiches are big enough to share with a friend, but I would hog it up for myself 🙂
Now, let’s talk about the actual taste. The french baguette was perfect. Hard and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The lemongrass beef was tender and the seasoning wasn’t overwhelming. The layering of the hard bread, tender beef, cucumbers, and hot jalapeno blended together to make a perfect sandwich. Even though the jalapeno were a little hot, the cool cucumbers did a great job cooling off my mouth. This was my first experience with a Banh Mi sandwich and I’m hooked. So, on this adventure, I managed to check off one of my New Years resolutions and try another great food truck in Dallas!
